The Kaneland Blackberry Creek PTO contributes to our children’s educational environment in a variety of ways. One of the most important ways the PTO gets involved is by organizing and managing a series of after school activities that enrich the educational environment for our children.  Your time and talents are needed to make this a successful school year for all of our children.  Below is a description of a number of those activities.

A variety of fun and educational presentations are provided for the students throughout the school year.

These are several great programs that provide money to the school’s PTO.  This is an easy way to earn money for the students at Blackberry Creek.

Help keep parents informed of PTO happenings on the bulletin board located by the main office.  Help is needed to update or change as new events come.

Butter Braid is a light and flaky pastry that is hand-braided and comes in a variety of mouthwatering fillings. The pastry comes frozen and will keep for several weeks in the freezer. Butter Braid pastries are great for holidays and other special occasions.  This fundraiser is quick and easy.  Distribute order forms, collect order forms, fill out order spreadsheet from ButterBraid, reminder calls made the day prior to delivery, help sort the delivery, and hand out to parents at pickup. 1-2 volunteers plus the committee chair are needed to complete this fundraiser.

Be the “go to” parent for your child’s classroom. Provide communication to classroom parents as needed,  plan classroom parties and coordinate the classroom basket for the PTO fundraiser.

If you have a digital camera, you can capture the fun times of the classroom parties and submit them to the school yearbook coordinator.

Plan and coordinate the end of the year dance/celebration!

Coordinate class picture of all 5th grade students and teachers, taken each spring.  Includes contacting photographer and 5th grade teachers to set the date, as well as being present on the day the photo is taken at the school.

This PTO-Sponsored program is offered to the students, faculty and staff of Kaneland Blackberry Creek. Every other Wednesday, hot lunches are catered in from local businesses and made available for purchase.

This is a great opportunity for families of Kaneland Blackberry Creek to show their appreciation for faculty and staff during Parent/Teacher Conferences and Teacher Appreciation Week.

Welcome Back to School Ice Cream Social!  This event is free for the entire family on August 17th from 4-6 p.m.  Enjoy an ice cream sundae, catch up with old friends and make some new ones.  Come visit us after you have dropped off your school supplies!  All ice cream MUST be enjoyed outside.

Join your Kaneland Blackberry Creek Friends and meet new families at a Kane County Cougars Game.  “Ozzie’s Reading Club” is a reading incentive program sponsored by the Kane County Cougars minor league baseball team.  “Ozzie’s Reading Club” tracks the progress of reading around the bases of a baseball diamond with the three bases and home plate representing two weeks worth of reading. Students completing all program requirements hit a home run and earn a free ticket to a Kane County Cougars game in May. Other rewards include a bookmark, a voucher for a hot dog and soda, an official Ozzie Reading Club t-shirt, the opportunity to walk in a parade before the game, as well as run the bases after the game

The Kaneland Arts Initiative (KAI) was originated by the Kaneland School District to bring professional and professional quality arts to Kaneland students and community. In order to best communicate the events and programs produced by KAI and receive feedback on their Arts programming, KAI would like to have PTO representation on its planning committee. The KAI planning committee meets monthly throughout the school year to plan KAI events. A representative from each parent teacher organization/association/network would be expected to attend meetings, thoughtfully give feedback and suggestions on KAI matters, and communicate to their school the events and needs of KAI. If interested, please contact Maria Dripps-Paulson at kai@kaneland.org. We thank you in advance for considering this position as KAI representative.

KBK Cares is a group that encourages compassion, kindness and gratitude within our school, our community and our families. KBK Cares collaborates with our teachers, our students and their families on a monthly or bi monthly basis to do things for others.

The Kaneland Kindness Campaign is a community collaboration dedicated to promoting and inspiring kindness in our homes, organizations, schools, businesses, and communities.  Their mission is to discuss kindness, inspire positive action via a proactive (anti-bullying) message of BE NICE. BE HAPPY.  This community collaboration meets monthly with community leaders, groups, families, schools and students who are all dedicated to promoting kindness in our community.
The Kindness Campaign is looking for a volunteer to become a liaison between them and each of the schools.  Our volunteer would need to attend monthly meetings and report the happenings back to the KBC PTO.

Join our very own KBC teachers for a dinner at McDonald’s throughout the year.  McDonald’s will donate 10% of earnings to our school.

The KBC PTO would like to try something new this year!  We are hoping to provide several open gym nights for our students throughout the year.

In order to give the students a welcoming place to learn, the PTO decorates and tends to the concrete planters which line the front sidewalk of our school.

Our biggest fundraiser for the year will be held on September 26th!  Students will collect money, run, and win prizes!

An informational school directory is made available at no charge each year by the KBC-PTO. Also included is an optional listing of parent or legal guardian’s address, phone number, and e-mail address.

Coordinate volunteers and be present to help with three picture days throughout the year: fall, make-ups, and spring pictures.

Coordinate school supply program with School Tool Box representative. Involves sending in current supply list provided by the school district, signing contracts each fall, and maintaining communication with the School Tool Box representative.  This is a great job for someone looking to volunteer from home.

Show your school spirit every Friday and at all school events by purchasing and wearing Kaneland Blackberry Creek Spiritwear.

A resource for new and existing families who have questions concerning our school and programs and how to get involved in the KBC-PTO.

It is the mission of the yearbook team to capture our uniquely creative, child-centered school experiences, while documenting and highlighting the school year in photos.  This process begins with snapping those photographs! Yearbooks are available for purchase toward the end of the school year.  This is a service proudly provided by the KBC-PTO each year!
