What are Classroom Baskets?
Each classroom has chosen a theme for a gift basket and collected items that fit their theme, to be raffled off. Despite in person learning being canceled for the year, the PTO is going to proceed with the classroom basket raffle. Our students, parents, and the PTO put a lot of hard work into the classroom baskets. (Also, some baskets have perishables or time sensitive items.)
How will the Classroom Baskets work now that the Bolt is canceled?
You can purchase raffle tickets on the webstore (here) by April 30th. Tickets are $5 for 1 ticket, or $20 for 5 tickets.
On May 1st all raffle tickets will be placed in 1 bin. Raffle ticket holders will not be able to pick which basket their raffle tickets have a chance to win, it will be completely random. Each day, starting May 1st-May 21st, 1 basket will be raffled off. The winning raffle ticket drawn that day will be announced on the PTO facebook page, and the winner will be contacted. That winning raffle ticket wins the basket that was assigned to that date (the winner will not choose which basket they want). That winning raffle ticket will be removed from the bin of raffle tickets, and cannot win again. BUT if you have multiple tickets, you can win multiple times! So make sure to buy multiple tickets to increase your chances to win!! There are 21 baskets being raffled off, so you have 21 chances to win! Winners will be put in touch with the Lead classroom parent that was in charge of the winning basket. Together they will coordinate how to safely get the basket to the winner (this will involve a porch pick-up or drop off).
Can I see what is in each basket?
You can see an itemized list, and a picture, of each basket that is being raffled off right here!
Thank you so much for participating! Please email firstname.lastname@example.org with any questions!
The 2017 Kindergarten Registration and Literacy Fair will be held February 25, 2017 from 8am-11:30am. It will take place at Kaneland Harter Middle School (south of Harter road, across from Wabaunsee Community College). View the flier here for what time you should attend, and what you need to bring with.
Over the last few years, we have created a Facebook Group where parents and staff members could share information about activities sponsored by PTO, Blackberry Creek Elementary School and the Kaneland School District. The Facebook page is a great place to find reminders about upcoming events and post questions. With everyone’s busy schedules, it is a great place to quickly get the information you need about what is going on at the school.
To eliminate confusion of its purpose and ensure that the page remains a positive source of information sharing, we have established a set of guidelines for the Facebook page. Please see the user policy below.
The Facebook page is a private group page that is only for Blackberry Creek parents, teachers and staff members. Click here to go to our Facebook Group and request to join. Once we confirm you are a parent or staff member, we will grant you access. We appreciate your interest in helping make Blackberry Creek a great place for our kids and the community.

Recently, Mrs. Reilley (a 5th grade teacher) and her daughter’s Girl Scout troop went to the Ronald McDonald house near CDH to cook dinner for the families staying there. During the visit, they went on a tour and the volunteer guide talked about how money is raised to fund the house. One of those ways is the collection of pop-top tabs.
Her daughter’s Girl Scout troop would like to begin collecting pop-top tabs for this charity, and she’s asking for KBK’s help. If you could collect tabs, it would be greatly appreciated! Tabs can be placed in a Ziploc bag and sent to school with your child. We will also be collecting them through the summer and they can be turned in to Mrs. Reilley at the start of next school year.

The end of the year picnic is May 19 from 5pm-7pm. It will be held outside by the playground (weather permitting).
There will be hot dogs, chips, and water for sale ($1 each). The Good Humor Man will also make an appearance. he will be selling ice cream for a $2 donation. All of his donations go to St. Jude’s hospital. There will be games to play, prizes to be earned, and cotton candy and popcorn! Pie face will be introduced this year ($1 ticket), face painting, and a visit from the fire department! Our very own Mr. Fox will be the DJ for the evening! Please bring blankets and chairs for your family.
We need a lot of volunteers to make this picnic run! Please consider donating a small amount of your time to help with games or concessions. If you have a middle schooler or high schooler this is a great opportunity for them to earn service hours! Click below to sign up!

This years Walk to School Day will take place on October 2, 2019.
International Walk to School Day is a global event that involves communities from more than 40 countries walking and biking to school on the same day. It began in 1997 as a one-day event. Over time, this event has become part of a movement for year-round safe routes to school and a celebration – with record breaking participation – each October.
